Self Portrait - Brain Fog

This piece is a recreation of one I painted in 2014. It's purpose was to depict the feeling of brain fog (no pun intended), and memory loss from chronic pain. This phenomenon is not adequately understood but is experienced by many chronic pain patients. It's believed that the overactivity in the brain's pain receptors takes enough energy from the rest of the brain to cause damage, leading to difficulty concentrating, confusion, and memory difficulties. I experience this frequently and was especially struggling with it in school.
