This piece was made to examine the two faces of chronic pain/illness. We see here the dichotomy of looking "fine" and looking "unwell" although ultimately they are both self portraits. This medicine cabinet is the one I grew up looking into both during times I was able to go out and socialize or work, and times I was in too much pain to get out of bed. The viewer must intimately engage with the piece as they are reflected in the two mirrors. Ultimately seeing two reflections of the same person, neither more "well" than the other.
